During a memorable journey through Marrakech's Ourika Road, I found myself mesmerized by the artisanal craftsmanship in the bustling pottery district, known as "fakharnin." Amid the myriad of colors and designs, my eyes were drawn to these Small Colorful Glazed Bowls. However, I was eager for something unique—a plain version that would capture the simplicity and elegance of Moroccan culture.
I ended up seeking out a local artisan named Aziz, renowned for his clay pots known as "biscuits." With his skill and dedication, Aziz crafted the base for these beautiful bowls. His neighbor Ahmed, a master in painting and glazing, then took over the task of adding color and baking them to perfection. Together, they created a series of uni-colored bowls, each one a testament to Morocco's rich pottery tradition.
Handmade with love and collaboration, these bowls reflect the soul of Marrakech, a city of art, history, and culinary heritage. From the vibrant pistachio to the subtle grey, each bowl embodies the creativity and authenticity of the Moroccan experience, crafted specially for us by Aziz and Ahmed in the heart of the fakharnin.
These bowls are not just utensils; they are pieces of art, each one carrying the warmth of Moroccan sun and the dedication of the craftsman's hands. Whether you're serving Ghoulal, the traditional Moroccan snails soup (see our recipe), or just enjoying some pistachios, these bowls add authenticity and character to your table.
In addition to these plain-colored bowls, you might also explore our collection of arabesque-designed ceramics, offering various colors and sizes to suit your preference. Each is a treasure, a story, a piece of Marrakech brought to your home.
