TUYYA is a family-owned Moroccan store in Montréal, selecting Moroccan craft since 2007 from workshops and cooperatives we know by name. Our tagines come from six pottery towns, from Safi to Oued Laou: cooking tagines for the flame and serving tagines for the table. For tea: teapots, tea glasses and everything for the tea ceremony, with hand-painted bowls.
For the home: baskets, leather poufs, thuya wood boxes from Essaouira and lighting. In the pantry and the hammam: organic argan and olive oil, spices and Moroccan skincare.
Where to buy a tagine in Montréal?
At TUYYA, online or at our Montréal warehouse by appointment. We carry tagines from six Moroccan pottery towns: Rabat, Salé, Marrakech, Safi, Fès and Oued Laou, in several sizes, for cooking and for serving.
Which tagine to choose: cooking or serving?
A cooking tagine is made for heat: it slow-cooks meat and vegetables on a heat diffuser or in the oven. A serving tagine, glazed and hand-painted, brings the dish to the table or dresses a room. As for size, a 30 cm tagine serves 4 to 6. Each town has its signature: the glazes of Safi and Fès, the pottery of Salé and Rabat, the clay of Marrakech, the Rif pottery of Oued Laou.
