Description
Goat leather, hand-stitched · patchwork of deep red and sand panels · golden-thread medallion and flowers · Fès, Morocco · Ø 19″ × 10″
In the tanneries of Fès, hide is coloured before it ever meets the needle. Here the red holds the warmth of a room the way a carpet does, and the sand panels temper it — each one cut, edged with a braided cream-and-blue passementerie, then joined around a medallion worked in gold thread.
A pouf is made to be occupied: slid beneath a low tea table for a guest, set at the end of a sofa for a resting foot. It ships deflated and plumps in moments; a zipper lets you settle the fill. With years of use the red deepens — that is the patina, not a flaw.
Handmade piece, unique — cut, pieced and stitched by hand, so the exact shade and dimensions may vary slightly from the photos.
